Mile High Station Wedding

It’s been a while since we’ve had a Mile High Station wedding, A lot has changed in the world since our last time there. Gay marriage was legalized in the US, we lived through a pandemic that drastically cut wedding lists, and we’ve since captured another 150 weddings. The world looks different and weddings look different.

Fortunately, that’s right up our alley! And we have the best clients, who want to make their wedding as unique as they are, eschewing all the stuffy wedding “rules.” Landon and Tyler are exactly that kind of couple and their wedding featured some fantastic highlights, including:

  • Getting ready together. I wrote about this in the callout box, but this is one of my new favorite trends and I hope it sticks around. I can’t think of a better, more intimate time to spend with the person you’re about to make a lifetime commitment to!
  • Portraits at their favorite cocktail bar in Denver. Yes, we did the usual mountain/forest portraits, but when they mentioned that they’d like to go to Seven Grand for wedding party portraits, we figured the worst that could happen is Seven Grand could say no. But instead, Dylan, the general manager, not only said of course (technically, he said, “I’m a total sucker for weddings.”), they let us in before the bar opened so we could get really creative. Big thank you to Dylan, and to Coop, the bartender extraordinaire who made sure everyone who wanted a beautiful cocktail got one.
  • Reception surprises, both big and small. Cocktail hour included a crossword puzzle with answers that about Tyler and Landon from all parts of their lives. This meant that to complete the whole thing, guests had to talk to people outside of their immediate group. Later in the evening, after a delicious dinner but before the deep fried Oreos and cheesecake were served, guests were treated to a jaw-dropping performance by Brittany Blaze Shearz, complete with dollar bills to hand out!

Tyler and Landon, thank you so much for an absolutely epic party! All of the little details made it a night to remember, not only for your guests, but also for us. What do you say we do this every year?
