Beaver Creek Engagement

After our adventures at Vail, we headed off to one of my favorite resorts for the second part of Kelly and Chris’s Alt Session. Beaver Creek Resort is a beautiful spot to ski, get hitched, or just hang out and eat cookies. But because we’re always searching for interesting activities for our Alt Sessions, their Thursday night fireworks caught our eye. After a lot of research, with a ton of help from Kasha and various Beaver Creek Mountain teams, we had a plan for this Beaver Creek engagement session.

That plan started with us standing in line at 7:25 pm with 50 small children armed with glow sticks. In addition to the fireworks, Beaver Creek hosts a ski down for kids on Thursday nights. While the mini-skiers made their way down the mountain to cheers from parents and apres ski revelers, we positioned ourselves to best capture the fireworks display that was about to start. We rehearsed some poses so that once the festivities began, we’d be ready to shoot through until the end.

Then the fireworks began!

Once the finale concluded and the smoke cleared, we were dazzled by the stars and the play of light coming through the trees. So, naturally, we had to do just a few more photos. Because how often do you get the chance to be in the quiet darkness of a mountain populated only by the occasional groomer?

After we felt like we just couldn’t improve on the photos we already took (at least not without getting frostbite), the four of us made our way carefully down the mountain and called a wrap on this epic Alt Session!

Enormous thanks goes out to Kasha at Beaver Creek Mountain, the fireworks team, lift operators and ski school instructors, who all helped us make this a truly unforgettable experience! And, of course, thanks to Kelly and Chris for spending the entire day with us for this Vail / Beaver Creek engagement!
