Bend, Oregon Wedding
To cap off our 2024 wedding season, we ventured out on a long road trip across five states for Hillary and Todd’s super fun Bend, Oregon wedding at Lake Creek Lodge.
Since hitting my goal of visiting each of the 50 states back in 2016, I have since set another (loose) goal of photographing a wedding in each of the 50 states as well. I say “loose” because, if I’m being honest, there are a couple of states that I’d be okay never going back to. That said, this trip to Oregon officially made a baker’s dozen for me, plus Washington, D.C.
Lake Creek Lodge, which is just outside of Sisters, west of Bend, has a laid back, rustic summer camp vibe, and Hill and Todd took full advantage of the theme. They had branded mugs and signage sporting their venue’s de facto moniker, “Camp Wannaluvya,” and spent the morning of the wedding participating in various summer camp activities with their guests, including swimming, fishing, ping pong, tennis and pickleball.
Following a peaceful ceremony next to the fishing pond, the newlyweds, along with all of their guests, recessed to the reception area, escorted by a lively second line courtesy of Stump City Soul.
My favorite personal touch at the reception was getting to try two different types of Boochcraft, a hard kombucha company owned by the groom. I had never been a kombucha fan, but I think I’m officially sold at this point. 10/10, highly recommended.
After an evening of dancing to the tunes of SCS, we concluded the night with a few photos of the bride and groom under the Milky Way. The perfect ending to a wonderful day.
Hill and Todd, thank you both so much for having us at your Bend, Oregon wedding (and for brining me one step closer to my goal!) Also, huge thanks to our friends, Jos and Tree, for making this connection.
QUICK TIP
If you can’t find a photographer that you love in your local area, don’t be afraid to expand your search a bit. Depending on where you’re getting married, it might actually be more economical to hire someone to come in from out of town, out of state, or even out of country.
Ultimately, your photos are the only thing you’re going to have in the future to remember your wedding day, so you want to make sure you book a photographer whose style you’re in love with, regardless of where they’re based.
