Black Canyon Inn Wedding

Estes Park has always been one of our favorite places to visit, not just in Colorado, but in the entire world. And Black Canyon Inn is one of our all-time favorite wedding venues to shoot. Ashleigh and Alex’s Black Canyon Inn wedding earlier this month will always hold a special place in our hearts because it was the first ever wedding to be held at the brand new “Boulders” event space.

Before this year, most of the weddings at Black Canyon Inn were held under the pavilion near “The Homestead,” a smaller log cabin-style building situated a few hundred yards down the hill from The Boulders. The Homestead is a beautiful and rustic location with wonderful views of the Twin Owls peaks and Lumpy Ridge, but the new venue is majestic AF.

The Boulders is a massive, three-story structure perched atop the hill overlooking the Rocky Mountains. It’s kind of like an upscale ski chalet. There’s plenty of room for everybody to get ready on-site without risking accidentally seeing each other before the wedding and the reception area is large enough to accommodate even the largest of wedding groups.

The ceremony site is located on the top floor. It’s indoors, but with the large glass doors and windows that open onto the deck, it gives the feeling of an outdoor wedding. Also, the patio on which cocktail hour is held is equipped with fireplaces to keep guests warm during those brisk mountain nights.

Since we had the honor of being the first photographers to ever shoot a wedding at The Boulders, we took advantage of the opportunity and spent the morning taking photos with Ashleigh and Alex all over the grounds. A beautiful ceremony with the epic Lumpy Ridge as a backdrop followed and then it was on to the reception for a night of dancing and merriment.

We consider ourselves lucky to have been a part of this Black Canyon Inn wedding and we’re super excited to be back to shoot more weddings here in 2021!
