Blackstone Rivers Ranch Wedding
Most traditional wedding timelines are tight. This happens, then that happens, then the other thing happens and there’s very little time in between all of these things to take a breath. I’m happy to report that this was not at all the case with Claire and Ben’s Blackstone Rivers Ranch wedding.
The bride and groom-to-be finished getting ready several hours before their ceremony, which allowed us to whisk the them away for an extended portrait session long before their guests started to arrive. We had already scouted the locations we wanted to go to months earlier when we were in town for another wedding, and we were able to hit up:
- A mountain overlook with cool rock formations,
- a picturesque alpine lake and
- a waterfall in a pine forest.
There are a lot of cool things to see in Colorado, but if I had to choose the perfect trifecta for a portrait session, it would probably be these three things.
The best part was that Claire and Ben were more than willing to jump in our car and blindly accompany us wherever we wanted to go and do whatever we wanted to do for the better part of two hours. And, when asked if she was OK leaving all of her things in the bridal suite (including her cell phone) during this excursion, Claire enthusiastically said “yes.” This allowed the couple to relax and go with the flow without worrying about the decor being set up (which many couples do) or the buses transporting the guests breaking down (which did happen) or any of the myriad “problems” that can (and will) arise on a wedding day.
Claire and Ben, cheers to you for being fun and relaxed and for being in the moment throughout your entire Blackstone Rivers Ranch wedding day. Oh, and thank you especially for the kick-ass dance party (photos below)!
QUICK TIP
Ditch the cell phone. By the time your wedding day rolls around, all of your worries should be behind you. If your guests can’t find the venue, they can call any number of people (who aren’t you) for directions. If there’s an issue with the decorations, that’s the planner’s problem to solve. If the weather is looking crummy, your photographer will figure out how to create cool photos regardless. The only thing you should be concerned with on your wedding day is enjoying yourself.
