Brown Palace Wedding
In the midst of a small lull in weddings, we are so excited to look back at Emily and Tyler’s Brown Palace wedding from last fall! This was our first time photographing in this illustrious building, but we hope it’s far from the last.
We knew we liked Emily and Tyler from the moment we started planning their Alt Session. We suggested a few options, but secretly, the Bishop Castle was the one we hoped they’d pick. Not only did they think it would be the perfect fit for their vibe, they moved forward with the date we had picked out in spite of the freezing (and I’m talking single-digit) weather. Their adventurousness paid off with one of our most epic engagement sessions to date.
Seeing their wedding vision come to life more than a year later, it was clear that Bishop Castle was just a hint of what was to come. Their wedding theme – Disney villains – was right up our alley. Both Jesse and I (INTJs on the Myers-Briggs questionnaire) tend to prefer the aesthetics of movie villains to that of the heroes. In addition to the vibrant and rich villain-esque color palette, Emily and Tyler incorporated some really cool Viking details, including a drinking horn, mead ceremony and 200-year-old family Bible. And on top of all the meticulously planned details, Emily and Tyler threw one hell of a party!
Friends, thank you for trusting us to capture your amazing wedding! It was a long road to get there, but it was so worth it.
QUICK TIP
No need to stick to the typical American wedding traditions for your ceremony. Tyler has a Nordic background, so they decided to do a mead ceremony. But we’ve seen everything from tasting the four elements to hand fasting to glass pouring. The best part about modern weddings is you can choose to do what speaks to you and ignore the rest!
