Buena Vista Engagement
Colorado is such a beautiful place. Every day, we thank our lucky stars that we have the good fortune to live in this Rocky Mountain paradise. We could spend every minute of every day photographing this state and still not find all the breathtaking views. Don’t even get me started on the weather! We experienced all four seasons in one day while scouting Renee & Caleb’s Buena Vista engagement session this past weekend. You want sunny and warm in the early afternoon, but feel more like snow in the late afternoon? Colorado’s got you covered.
Renee and Caleb had already spent the weekend partying for Renee’s birthday. But even after skiing, soaking in Mt. Princeton Hot Springs and enjoying some local brews, they still had the energy to spend the day with us hanging out and taking photos. We started off hiking/climbing rocks near River Park with the most amazing vista of the Collegiate Peaks and, in the words of Weather.com, “ample sun.”
We stopped next at St. Elmo, a snow-covered ghost town outside of Buena Vista, before heading on to Salida to catch the rosy sunset behind the mountains. If you haven’t been, we highly recommend the detour up to St. Elmo the next time you’re in the Salida-Buena Vista area. It’s a very cool glimpse of what Colorado looked like in the 19th century.
And no engagement shoot is complete without a celebratory drink at a brewery – in this case, Elevation Beer Co. After we were finished shooting, we enjoyed a few delicious beverages at the brewery’s Salida tap room. I can’t think of a better way to wrap up a shoot than over beer and good company!
Renee and Caleb, thank you so much for allowing us to capture your Buena Vista engagement session. We can’t wait for round two in July!
