Buena Vista Wedding
Lindsey and Chris’s Buena Vista wedding this past weekend felt more like a music festival than a typical wedding. Which is exactly what the couple was going for and exactly the kind of thing we love to photograph!
The first hint of that laid-back festival vibe came just before the ceremony started. As I was mentally going through my checklist of details to look out for, I paused and asked Lindsey, “What shoes are you wearing for the ceremony?” She grinned, kicked out her bare foot with its blue painted nails and said, “I’m not wearing any!” Then she went and got married in a sprawling meadow with Mt. Princeton as a backdrop.
After the ceremony was when the fun really got started for their guests! Once the newlyweds had recessed from the altar, the guests were given instructions for Meadow Quest, the best wedding scavenger hunt I’ve ever seen. This wasn’t your normal “take a photo of the newlyweds at the head table” kind of treasure hunt. Rather, while Jesse and I took Lindsey and Chris to do portraits, their friends and family explored the property, searching for hidden beer, painting their faces, and paddleboarding across a pond to win Meadow Quest points.
The night rounded out with an amazing performance by Tierro Band with Bridget Law, whose gypsy punk sound was perfect for dancing under the stars.
Special thanks to Bonnie from Bonnie Photo for capturing the Meadow Quest craziness while we took photos of the couple.
And Lindsey and Chris, we hope you two are having an amazing time in Spain. Thank you so much for inviting us to be part of your Buena Vista wedding (and for sharing your scotch)! It was an absolute honor and we can’t wait until our paths cross again.
