Cheesman Park Engagement
We tried something new this year. When we looked at our calendar last winter, we decided to completely block off the months of November and December, so that we could take some time to breathe and recharge before conference season kicks into full gear in January. This meant that Dani and Dean’s Cheesman Park engagement session in October was our final shoot of 2024.
And what a way to finish! Dani and Dean had a cohesive vision for this session. Just in time for Halloween, they went with a macabre theme, choosing Cheesman Park because it used to be a cemetery, and choosing Linger Denver (a super cool rooftop bar in Highland) because it used to be a mortuary.
The couple took this theme one step further by dressing up as ghosts while they skateboarded (Dean) and roller-skated (Dani) around Cheesman. After 17 years of photographing engagement sessions, it’s rare that we experience a “first” during a shoot these days. But skating ghosts was definitely a first for us.
After Cheesman (and after a wardrobe change), we headed to Linger, which has one of the best skyline views at sunset in the city. D&D used to live in the neighborhood, and frequented Linger, so it had the added benefit of being a special place for them. And the food was absolutely delicious. We’ve made it a point to go back and try the cocktails sometime when we don’t have to drive 100 miles home immediately after.
Dani and Dean, thank you both so much for planning such a fun day for your Cheesman Park engagement, and for helping us put a huge exclamation point on the end of our 2024 season! You have 1,000% whetted our appetite for your wedding next year.
QUICK TIP
Not sure what to do for your engagement session? Think about what’s important to you as a couple. Places? Activities? Did you have your first date at a particular speakeasy? Do you love skiing at Winter Park? Do you celebrate Halloween hard AF, like Dani and Dean? Maybe you go on weekly hikes with your dogs. Or enjoy lazy Sunday mornings sipping lattes in your backyard.
Whatever it is that makes you you, consider incorporating that into your engagement session. Because anything is better than doing the exact same thing that everybody else does. Click the button below to see some of our all-time favorite sessions.
