color powder wedding session in Boulder Colorado

Color Powder Wedding Session

Chip and Brett had quite the roller coaster in getting to their wedding day. And while that roller coaster meant that we weren’t able to photograph their elopement in Hawaii, we did get the chance to do a crazy fun color powder wedding session with them when they visited Colorado this summer!

Like many other couples over the past year and a half, Chip and Brett were forced to reschedule and relocate their wedding – which was originally going to take place at the Greenbriar Inn in Boulder this May – to a smaller affair in Hawaii. Since we weren’t able to make it to our nation’s 50th state for the nuptials, we converted the couple’s retainer into a post-wedding Alt Session and decided to go a bit crazy for the shoot.

We started out at Walker Ranch, just west of Boulder, where we took Brett and Chip and their dog, Henri, on a short hike with portraits along the way. On the way down the mountain, Colorado graced us with one of its iconic colorful sunsets, so we pulled off to the side of the road for some sunset portraits, sans Henri.

For the grand finale of the evening, we all wound up in our back yard, where we enjoyed an adult beverage or two (single malt Scotch may or may not have been involved) and broke out our stash of color powder for some unique nighttime photos. Even Henri got in on the action. The color powder action, not the Scotch action.

Chip and Brett (and Henri), many thanks to you both for taking the time our of your trip to spend the day with us for your color powder wedding session, and also for being so flexible over the past year and a half. We hope our paths cross again in the future!
