Dao House Wedding
If getting typecast means that every August during the Perseid meteor shower, we get to work with an awesome couple at a remote venue where we can photograph the Milky Way, sign me up. Katie and Kevin’s Dao House wedding completed all our mid-August checkboxes, and then some!
(Shout out to Jamie and Eric, who trusted us to get our very first Milky Way photo and arranged their wedding to give us the best possible chance to do so!)
Two scientists at heart, Katie and Kevin met while working in the same office. For most people, this kind of situation is fraught with bad potential outcomes. Not for these two, though. This romance blossomed outside the office on the hiking trails of Colorado as they discovered a shared passion for nighttime photography. This was truly a shared passion, too; Katie knows her way around a camera as well as Kevin knows his way around the night sky.
So when the night wound down and guests went back to their rooms to change before heading to the bonfire after party, the newlyweds excitedly hopped into our car for a quick drive to Lily Lake. Jesse and I ate our lunch here earlier in the day and knew that it had fantastic potential for a star photo. A quick hike up the side of a hill gave us a perfect vantage point of the night sky, the Milky Way, and the meteor shower. And, well, no point in me trying to describe it any more; you can see the results for yourself.
Katie and Kevin, you two were so amazing. From making us feel like we were part of the family to leaving your Dao House wedding party for an extended period of time so we could check out the meteor shower, you’re the kind of couple we wish we could clone. Enjoy your time in Bali!
