Donovan Pavilion Wedding

For the third year in a row, Jesse and I had the honor of spending New Year’s Eve celebrating the beginning of a marriage in a breathtaking location (see 2021 and 2022). This year’s festivities took us to Vail for Melissa and Ben’s Donovan Pavilion wedding.

In years’ past, we’ve tried out allllll the New Year’s Eve activities. We’ve gone out to bars, attended concerts, visited friends’ house parties, and stayed home. We’ve spent them together and apart; stayed up to ring in the new year and gone to bed early. After collecting all this data, I can confidently say that my favorite way to start each year is celebrating a wedding.

Starting 2023 with Melissa and Ben was no different. The morning was spent sharing stories, champagne and laughter. Then Melissa and Ben braved the cold for some epic winter wonderland-style portraits. Then, just after the sun went down, they exchanged vows on the heated patio at the Donovan Pavilion. As the snow hit the patio, it immediately turned into steam, making it feel like they were getting married in a cloud.

After a delicious meal, we all danced the night away, thanks to the talented Radio Band! When the clock ticked down toward midnight, Melissa and Ben shared a champagne toast on the dance floor, ready to begin a new year surrounded by their closest friends and family. With that kind of love in the room, how could you not start 2023 in a good mood?

So to Melissa, Ben, their friends and family, and all the amazing vendors: we couldn’t think of a more fun crew to be with as we rang in the new year. Cheers to a prosperous 2023!

Jesse and I have traveled extensively. One of the things that’s stuck with me throughout our wanderings is that every single state thinks that they have claims on the phrase, “Don’t like the weather? Wait five minutes.” I’m here to say that Colorado has officially cemented its rightful ownership. Just ask anyone who attended Kristin…

After nearly 18 years of photographing weddings in Colorado, it’s rare that we experience a first on a wedding day. But Jenna and Cody’s wintery Sapphire Point wedding in Breckenridge was absolutely chock-full of firsts. For starters, both Moira and I got to photograph the bride getting ready. I’m usually off somewhere else with the…
