Edgewood Inn Wedding

Now that Jesse and I have some time in the office and a couple weeks off from wedding travel, we get to catch up on sneak peeks and blog posts, including Heather & Eric’s Edgewood Inn wedding!

When Heather and Eric first reached out, they explained that this would be a second marriage for both of them and that it would create a blended family to include their five children. I always like to know the kids’ names and ages to get a general idea of what to expect. In my notes from that first meeting, I have “!!!” written beside their kids’ info. Why? Between the two of them, Heather & Eric have four teenage girls and one eight-year-old boy.

I don’t know about you, but I remember what I was like as a teenager – and that made me a little frightened for what we were going to walk into. Fortunately, those fears were wholly unfounded.

The girls – Lexi, Allie, Lizzie, and Charlie – were all true girls’ girls, hyping each other (and yes, even me) up all day long, choreographing dances for the grand entrance, and bring all the energy on the dance floor. They’re the kinds of girls you wish you had as friends in high school.

Meanwhile, Michael, the lone boy, brought his own brand of shenanigans to the crew, including telling Jesse and I the kinds of facts I adore: random things that sound bizarre but might just be true (but probably aren’t). For instance, did you know that, according to Michael, it’s illegal to own a square watermelon anywhere in the world. If you do in fact have one, you’ve been warned. The fruit police are on their way.

We’ve seen enough kids in our lives – at weddings, family sessions, in public – to know that they don’t turn out this wholesome, compassionate, friendly and fun without really fantastic and loving parents. This became even more clear during the ceremony when Heather & Eric shared laughter- and tear-filled vows with each kiddo before giving them a personal gift.

Heather & Eric’s new family isn’t a blended family. That’s a denotation that’s not necessary.

They’re all just a family.

Heather, Eric, Lexi, Allie, Lizzie, Charlie, and Michael – it was a joy working with all of you and getting to capture all of the moments from this important day. We hope we did it justice.
