EDM Engagement Session
Alright, technically this was Kass and Zack’s post-wedding session, but as an offering to the SEO gods, we’re calling it their EDM engagement session.
For their wedding in February, Kass and Zack had a whole bunch of cool light-up stuff, like string lights, glow sticks, marquee letters and, our personal favorite, matching LED jackets. The photographic potential for all of these different light sources is unlimited, but there’s only so much time in between events on a wedding day to capitalize on on that potential.
Fast-forward five months, we had the pleasure of collaborating with the newlyweds on a second shoot, this time at Chateau La Plante (our property) in southern Colorado.
We started off with a handful of sunset photos since the sky didn’t cooperate with us on the day of their wedding. Fortunately for round two, mother nature treated us to cool cloud formations, crepuscular rays and all of the beauty Colorful Colorado is known for.
After sunset (and after a couple of beverages) we ventured to our pole barn for the second part of the shoot. Over the last few months, we had been collecting various light-up props and, of course, Kass and Zack brought their own as well (including the jackets). We spent the next two hours bouncing ideas off of one another and trying some new techniques we haven’t had the chance to utilize in our nearly two decades of shooting weddings in Colorado. The result was a collaboration unlike anything we’ve done before.
Kass and Zack, thank you both so much for making the trip south for your EDM engagement session / post-wedding session ;), for always being open to any ideas we throw at you, and for being the fun and cool people that you are.
QUICK TIP
Wedding timelines can be tight, which might mean that you don’t have time to go off site for photos on the day-of. If you don’t get all of the photos you were hoping for on your wedding day, you can always do a post-wedding session with your photographer. Sometimes, this means getting dressed up in your wedding attire again and sometimes it just means taking the opportunity to explore other creative avenues that you might not have had time for on your wedding day. Either way, you’ll come away with some cool photos to show for it!
