Greenbriar Inn Wedding

Jesse and I returned to our old stomping grounds last weekend for Sarah and Patrick’s Greenbriar Inn wedding. And while it’s been some time since we’ve been to Boulder for a wedding, we put together a greatest hits tour for their portraits.

We met at the historic Hotel Boulderado for their first look. Patrick and his groomsmen had the run of the Presidential Suite as they got ready for the day. A mini disaster was averted thanks to some quick thinking from Patrick’s brother and best man; they made an eleventh-hour run to Men’s Wearhouse for a shirt for Patrick, who had left his in Denver. Still, I think it would have been both surprising and memorable if he had arrived at the first look sporting the jacket + tie + bare chest look we usually only get after the whiskey’s been flowing for a while.

Our next destination for photos was Pearl Street Mall. Now, if you’ve never been to this area in downtown Boulder on a Saturday in the summer, just imagine Grand Central Station and you’ll get a feel for the massive amounts of people who flock there on the weekends. They were inundated with shouts of congratulations, warnings that they could still run, and gawking stares from everyone else. But these two f*cking rocked it! As Sarah explained so succinctly to me, “It’s our wedding day and we’re going to own it!” – which included taking photos with a fire-breathing clown.

This dive-in-head-first attitude permeated the entire day. Patrick gave each and every one of the wedding party a hug after they walked down the aisle, while we got another glimpse of Sarah’s willingness to experience life to the fullest during the best man’s speech. I’ll just say that she once bit the head off of a fish, all in the name of good luck.

After all the food, cake, and toasting, the party’s energy was poured into the dance party, led by the fabulously talented Raising Cain. The newlyweds and guests danced as if they were setting the bar for the best dance party in the history of weddings – and they wanted to make sure that bar was too high for anyone else to reach.

Thank you so much to Sarah and Patrick for bringing us along on the crazy adventure that was your Greenbriar Inn wedding day! We know you’ll have just as much fun in Maui and in the rest of your life together.
