Holi Powder Engagement

Melissa and Justin wanted to do something avant-garde for their Alt Session. So Jesse and I dove into our photo bucket list. We’d already done a Holi powder engagement session. And a trampoline engagement session. But what about a trampoline Holi powder engagement session?!

Yeah. We thought it was a little out-there, too.

But that’s what got us so excited for this Alt Session. We couldn’t really explain how it would turn out because we didn’t know how it would turn out. There are few things in this world that give Jesse and me that little-kid-on-Christmas-morning feeling, but collaborating with a couple on something different and unique is at the top of that list. And Melissa and Justin were the perfect partners in crime. They laugh freely and goof around in a way most of us adults have forgotten. So not only was this a fantastically enjoyable engagement shoot, it was a perfect example of how important having fun together is to a strong relationship.

So we drove into Boulder to a friend’s house and got set up in her backyard. While setting up lighting, we cracked open a bottle of whiskey and embibed in a little bit of lubrication. Once the liquid courage set in, we went to work. Luckily for us, Melissa and Justin are natural athletes who took to the trampoline like fish to water and we we able to get some great images as a result.

Huge thanks to Val for blindly letting us take over her backyard for an evening and for not looking at us like we were crazy when we told her about our idea for a trampoline Holi powder engagement shoot. We’re grateful we have such an amazing community that supports us when we get an outrageous idea!

Melissa and Justin, needless to say, we are so looking forward to your wedding day next year. Even if it’s only half as fun as your Alt Session was, I know I’ll be heading home with abs sore from laughing!
