Lake Tahoe Indian Wedding
I was hanging out near the Mandap before Anika and Mihir’s Lake Tahoe Indian wedding when the officiant came over and struck up a conversation.
“Where are you from?” he asked.
“Colorado,” I said.
He took a beat and said, “There are a million photographers here. Why did they hire you?”
I thought about it for a minute and said, “I guess they liked us more.”
Rewinding to the spring of 2025, we received a message from our friends, Abhimanyu and Prasheila of Going Bananas Photography asking if we were available for a wedding In Lake Tahoe that fall. The bride and groom-to-be, Anika and Mihir had attended a wedding as guests in India that Abhimanyu and Prasheila were photographing. Since they weren’t available for the Tahoe wedding, Abi and Prash recommended us instead.
After a video call and a few emails back and forth, Anika and Mihir officially booked us as their photographers. But, they were also looking for videographers and asked if we had any recommendations. They had already mentioned that videography was their number one priority and that they were struggling to find a local video team whose style they loved.
We gave them a short list of a our favorites, including The Cinelums, a pair of brothers from Mexico who we had met at a conference in France the previous winter. Their work absolutely blew us away and we knew that we had to work with them.
To our great delight, Anika and Mihir loved their work as much as we did and brought them aboard.
So, how do two photographers from Colorado and two videographers from Mexico wind up shooting a Lake Tahoe Indian wedding? Because the bride and groom are connoisseurs.
Anika and Mihir, we’re so glad you chose us (and The Cinelums) out of a thousand other companies. And Abi and Prash, thank you a million times for making the connection. We owe you one!
QUICK TIP
Just because you’re having your wedding in a certain area doesn’t mean you have to hire vendors who live in that area.
When it comes to photography and videography specifically, it’s a very personal choice. Everyone has a different style and it’s possible that you won’t be able to find someone local who is a perfect fit for you. If this is the case, it’s perfectly okay to expand your search to the rest of the state, county, or in Anika and Mihir’s case, the rest of the world.
