Lionscrest Manor Wedding
Let’s clear the air first, Sharon and Paul didn’t have a Lionscrest Manor wedding, we just want to get some of that sweet SEO juice.
What they did have was so much more impressive, so buckle up!
At the beginning of May 24th, Sharon thought she was going to breakfast in downtown Denver. She was there, ostensibly, as part of a 20th wedding anniversary trip planned by her husband, Paul. But along with the check for breakfast came a coded clue.
That clue led to others that took her on a scavenger hunt around downtown Denver while a secret team coordinated other surprises behind the scenes. When the final clue led them back to their hotel room, Sharon was surprised by her original wedding dress laid out on the bed, next to Paul’s suit. A few minutes later, a makeup artist and I arrived at the hotel room to get her all glammed up.
Now, at this point, Sharon thought that the surprise was a vow renewal and portraits. So Jesse and I played along and took them to a couple of spots for portraits, all while waiting to get the all-clear from the day’s planner, Mariah, that the guests had arrived at Lionscrest Manor.
Because that was the second (and third, and fourth) part of the surprise. We told Sharon that we had pulled some strings and convinced a venue to let us swing by for a quick vow renewal, but in actuality, Paul had arranged for some very special guests to show up. When Sharon walked out to the ceremony location, she was greeted by her four kids and her in-laws. Then, out walked their pastor from the church they attended during their short stint living in Boulder. And finally, more friends and family joined, from all parts of their lives, all there to celebrate Sharon and Paul’s 20th anniversary.
Even though the day took a left turn from the beginning, Sharon rolled with all the twists and turns in the calmest, most laidback way. She read the vows Paul had written for her and hit all the punch lines with perfect comedic timing. She joined in on karaoke without a second thought. And she even agreed to follow me and Jesse out into the rain for some nighttime portraits.
Sharon and Paul, it was an honor to join you on your 20th wedding anniversary! We had so much fun helping plan the day and being part of the surprise (although there were several times I was sure I was going to say something wrong, so if the car ride was a little quiet, it’s because I had to overthink everything before I spoke). We wish you another 20 more happy years, and 20 more again after that!
QUICK TIP
What if you and your spouse aren’t big on dancing? Maybe you enjoy singing instead. Or playing charades. Or arcade games. Or ping pong competitions. Great news: you can have any (or all) of these at your wedding! There are no wedding police to come arrest you if your event doesn’t include dancing. Instead, there are plenty of other unique activities you can use to keep your guests entertained.
