Prepared For Dynamo Energy Hub’s Inaugural Summit in the Summits
Hi Dynamo team!
The Summit in the Summits | February 9-11 | Big Sky, Montana
Adding a third Summit to your current event offerings is no small feat. But we can’t think of a better place to bring together the top leaders in energy than Big Sky, Montana. The awe induced by the mountains is the perfect setting to put your attendees into the right head space to forge the kind of long-lasting connections needed to solve some of the world’s most complex problems.
We want our photos and video to capture those human connections.
And since this is the start of what hopefully becomes an annual tradition, we’d love to help set that tone from the beginning.
We’ve collected some information below to help you get to know us and our approach to photography, as well as some samples of our relevant work.

I’ve been photographing weddings for 19 years. Before that, I was a photojournalist (newspaper photographer).
I also briefly worked for Paramount Pictures. And by “briefly,” I mean one day.
I love to travel. I’ve been to all 50 states and 20-something countries.
I have a rare form of synesthesia called Ordinal Linguistic Personification. It’s super weird, but it makes me a better photographer.
If pressed, I could probably eat around 47 tacos.
Moira and I have been together for 19 years and not a day goes by that I don’t wonder what she sees in me.

Events are in my blood. I grew up in a family-owned catering business and planned events at Georgetown University before I ever picked up a camera.
If I see a dog, I consider it to be a good day.
I have a barn cat. Her name is Barnold, she has zero thoughts in her head, and she has only ever caught one mouse. I would still protect her with my life.
My idea of a perfect evening is a fuzzy blanket, a good book and a small glass of whiskey.
Few things motivate me more than being told what I want is impossible to achieve.
Jesse and I met on spring break in the Bahamas. He offered to buy me a drink. It was an all-inclusive resort.

PREP WORK

To ensure we capture the best photos we possibly can, we’ll familiarize ourselves with your venue, workshop schedule, and media needs. We’ll know exactly what time the sun will set and what kind of light we’ll be working with. We’ll coordinate with you every step of the way to make sure your event goes smoothly.

WE limit the number of events we take PER YEAR.
We pour every ounce of ourselves into what we do. Limiting our schedule gives us the mental bandwidth and creative space to do each event justice and to cultivate a first-class photography experience for you.

Jesse’s background is in photojournalism and he worked as a newspaper photographer long before we started our own business. While we work incredibly hard on our creative portraiture, more than 90% of the photos we shoot at any event are authentic, unscripted moments. When guests are lost in the moment and unaware of the camera, the real connections shine through.

I’m not the type of bride that was looking for your typical wedding or engagement photos in the hay fields or romantically posed photos. But since that is what’s popular, photographers with that style saturate the market. My style is unique, I love bold, bright colors and things that really make you go ‘WOW’….I knew the photographer that we got was going to need to have a crap ton of creativity with crazy ideas up their sleeve to deliver what I was looking for. [J. La Plante Photo] had exactly what I was looking for.
These pictures defy Hyperbole.
They are beyond stunning and some are so wonderful and personal and we will forever treasure them. The rest are works of art that should probably hang in a gallery and we will also forever treasure. We cannot express how lucky we are that you both agreed to be our photographers – we had high expectations, and even so you blew us away. Thank you a thousand times.
OUTSIDE THE BOX.
We didn’t want same old same old boring group photos. We wanted a photographer who thought outside the box, who got to know us and our personalities and what made us happy and laugh! EVERYONE and I do mean EVERYONE has said the same thing about our photos… that they captured the amazingness of the night! And to top all of this off, these two people are just lovely, kind, smart, sweet, and easy to work with.

When I tell you my husband doesn’t like pictures, I mean I MAYBE get one picture out of him. Two pictures? That’s out of the question. Enter J. La Plante Photo. Jesse and Moira make taking pictures FUN! After our Alt session, my (now) husband could not wait to see them again for wedding photos and fun. Not only do their pictures and talent blow everyone else out of the water, but they are genuinely awesome people who make taking pictures relaxing and entertaining at the same time. My family and friends cannot get enough of them and their pictures, nor can we obviously! They are so unique and captured us and our loved ones so perfectly.

I guess starting with the fact that I have been a professional wedding photographer for the last 16 years might add some weight to what I’m about to say….I cant imagine two more lovely or calming forces than we had in both Jesse and Moira. They were everywhere and nowhere all at once. They captured the intense emotion from start to finish in a way that is truly beyond belief. They captured the SPIRIT of our wedding day with grace and a flow that is seriously next level. These are not just photos. They are works of art.
