Red Rocks Engagement
Nicole and Dustin’s Red Rocks engagement session kicked off a week of several photo shoots for us. But what better way to start your week than spending time with a dog, talking about books, going to Red Rocks, and drinking some tasty homebrew? No complaints here!
We started the afternoon at a park near their house, where we cracked open some beer and hung out with their dog, Ellie. While we tried to find shelter from the wind, Ellie observed the squirrels and showed off her tricks in exchange for treats.
Afterwards, we headed up to Red Rocks, another location that means a lot to Nicole and Dustin. It’s a place where they spend a lot of time in the summer; they saw ten shows there this summer alone. With no end of cool locations for photos, we traversed from the very top of the venue all the way down to the stage, before heading back to the parking lot to wait for the sun to set.
As we were killing time, Jesse and I played around with Nicole’s engagement ring. Not content to get whatever engagement ring the bridal blogs told them they “should” be getting, Nicole and Dustin opted for an amazingly unique custom-designed ring featuring a diamond with high fluorescence, of which we made use.
While Jesse and I probably could have spent the rest of the evening playing around with the ring and UV light, we wanted to get some nighttime shots, as well. A short hike took us the perfect spot for these, with a looming red monolith and spectacular view of the city lights below.
Nicole and Dustin (and Ellie): thank you so much for braving the wind and the cold (and patiently waiting out the tourists) so we could get some awesome photos. We loved shooting your Red Rocks engagement and we can’t wait for your wedding next June!
