Summer Wedding at Black Canyon Inn

During the pre-ceremony portrait session at Jenny and Dustin’s summer wedding at Black Canyon Inn, Jenny turned to me and said, “I can’t wait for the dance party.” Approximately six hours later, I found out why.

Sometimes, photographing a dance party at a wedding for three straight hours can feel a bit monotonous. There are usually only a handful of people who are really into dancing, while the rest of the crowd is content to look on from the periphery. This was absolutely not case at Jenny and Dustin’s wedding.

An inordinately large percentage of the couples’ friends appeared to be professional dancers, as did the newlyweds themselves. They all immediately hit the dancefloor after dinner and flawlessly began performing West Coast Swing (as I’ve been told by people who understand styles of dance).

There were no lulls in this dance party. There were no ebbs and flows. And at no point did I check my watch.

It also didn’t hurt that Jenny and Dustin hired Dancin’ Shoes DJ, one of our all-time favorite “friendors” (friend vendors) that we’ve been working with for more than a decade.

Jenny and Dustin, thank you both so much for allowing us to be a part of your summer wedding at Black Canyon Inn. If every dance party was as good as yours, we would need to buy a lot more memory cards for our cameras!

I’ve been on a gondola or two in my day. But I’ve never experienced a ride like the one we took for Hanna and Dan’s Royal Gorge engagement session. Traveling almost 1000 ft. above the raging Arkansas River, the aerial gondola that takes you from one side of the gorge to the other isn’t for…

  • Montana Destination Wedding

Allie and Dustin booked us for their Montana destination wedding long before the word “pandemic” landed in our daily lexicon. They wanted plenty of time to plan the ultimate blowout celebration with all their closest friends and family, so they had planned their date two years in advance. Luckily, that meant that they skipped the whole 2020 rescheduling chaos and still got the wedding of their dreams.
