Behind the Scenes (Pt. 3)

It’s been a couple of years since we’ve posted our favorite wedding photography behind the scenes photos of us working. So, we thought it’s about time to do just that!

This post encompasses most, but not all, of our shoots from the fall of 2019 right up to present day (the winter of 2022.) This, of course, means two full pandemic wedding seasons, as you’ll see evidence of in the images. These past 24 months have been the strangest stretch of our 15-year wedding photography career, hands down. But in many ways, it’s also been one most fulfilling times of our career as well. Smaller weddings mean more time with the most important family and friends for couples and, in turn, more emotion and intimate moments for us to capture as photographers.

But this post is all about what goes on behind the camera! We hope you enjoy browsing and get a few chuckles along the way. If you’re interested, be sure to check out our wedding photography behind the scenes posts part one and two:

Jen and Robert are the kind of world travelers that Jesse and I aspire to be. They’ve been to every continent except Antarctica and I have no doubt that they’ll be checking that box soon. So Colorado, take it as a HUGE compliment that they decided to have their intimate winter wedding at the Sonnenalp…

  • Dream Lake Engagement

I’m not sure if Kenzie and Bo’s Dream Lake engagement session could have been any more authentically Colorado, swinging wildly between seasons like it wasn’t quite sure which month we were in. The adventure had the perfect mix of Type I and Type II fun that results in both an amazing experience and epic photos….

We’re back! We had a lovely two-week pause from photographing weddings, which we used to wrap up post-production on past weddings and do a whole lotta prep work for upcoming weddings (okay, and maybe we fit a brewery or two in there). And then, precisely a day after delivering the final gallery from our first…

I’m not a fan of trends in general. They become outdated just as quickly as they show up. But post-pandemic, we’ve been seeing a new trend pop up: the epic wedding weekend. If this trend means that more couples get to celebrate the way Jen and Ross did at their Grand Lake Lodge wedding, I’m…
