Black Canyon Inn Elopement

I doubt it’s a surprise to anyone that my favorite thing about living in Colorado is all the amazing views of the mountains. There are far too many epic vistas to count. With each new wedding, however, we do our best to find a spot we’ve never photographed before. Jean Marie and Jamie’s Black Canyon Inn elopement was no different.

For the first time in almost a decade, we had

  1. a couple getting married,
  2. time to go into Rocky Mountain National Park for photos, and
  3. Trail Ridge Road was open.

Obviously, we had to take Jean Marie and Jamie to the top of the world for their post-ceremony portrait session. Now, an interesting side effect of living in close proximity to so much natural beauty is that it can, at times, blend into the background. Watching Jean Marie and Jamie experience that epic drive for the first time reminded us how truly lucky we are to live in Colorado. Every next turn brought another jaw-dropping scene.

So while Jesse drove (and made sure we didn’t run into any elk or fall down the mountainside), I got the distinct joy of playing tour guide and seeing our state through fresh eyes. The weather cooperated for us and even brought in some dramatic clouds, perfect for photos. All-in-all, I’d say Colorado did a great job showing her true beauty for the newlyweds and their family. It’s no wonder so many of our destination couples end up moving here within a year of their wedding!

Jean Marie, Jamie, Jaxon, and family, thank you for letting us capture your Black Canyon Inn elopement experience, for the amazing conversation, and for making us feel like part of the family. We hope you’re having an epic time in Walt Disney World!
