We’re delighted to be considered as your wedding photographers!
We’ve been photographing weddings all over Colorado since 2008, but we just recently moved to Pueblo County. We would love to start photographing more weddings in and around the Steel City. So, for a limited time, we’re offering reduced rates for weddings within a 40-mile radius of Pueblo. If you’re planning a wedding in Pueblo, Colorado City, Rye, Cañon City, or anywhere else within 40 miles of Pueblo, you’ll receive a substantial discount on our packages (see below for more details).

A little bit about us…
We do things differently. We’re not big on taking super-stiff, posey photos. Everything you see on our website is real. Real weddings. Real couples. Real emotion.
Our goal isn’t to simply take pretty pictures, but to create works of art that are unique to you and worthy of hanging above your mantle. We limit the number of weddings we photograph so we can pour every ounce of our blood, sweat and tears into each wedding.

I’ve been shooting weddings for 17 years. Before that, I was a professional photojournalist.
If pressed, I could probably eat around 47 tacos.
Skiing is my favorite pastime. We have two seasons here at J. La Plante Photo: wedding season and ski season.
One of my greatest joys in life is sipping a beer after a long wedding day.
I love to travel. I’ve been to all 50 United States and 20 foreign countries. So far…
Moira and I have been together for 17 years and not a day goes by that I don’t wonder just what in the hell she sees in me.

Events are in my blood. I grew up in a family-owned catering business and planned events at Georgetown University before I ever picked up a camera.
If I see a dog, I consider it to be a good day.
I’m trying to name all the animals that visit our new property. My current favorites are Attila the Bun and Conan the Bar-bear-ian.
My idea of a perfect evening is a fuzzy blanket, a good book and a glass of whiskey.
I’m pertinacious to a fault. Few things motivate me more than being told what I want is impossible to achieve.
Jesse and I met on spring break in the Bahamas. He offered to buy me a drink. It was an all-inclusive resort.

No two weddings are alike, which is why we personalize our approach to every single couple. We want to get to know you, both individually and as a couple, instead of sticking you inside a box that’s been pre-determined by the wedding industry.

We’ve been photographing weddings for a long time and we’ve seen everything under the sun. We’ll hook you up with recommendations for the best vendors, help you plan your wedding day timeline and, if you’re coming from out of town, provide a local’s perspective on what to expect from your Colorado wedding. We’re here as a resource for you throughout the entire planning process. Rest assured, your wedding photography experience with us will be easy and enjoyable.
PREP WORK
WE’RE TYPE-A SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE.
To ensure we capture the best photos we possibly can, we’ll scout your venue the day before your wedding and come up with a bunch of cool ideas for photos. We’ll know exactly what time the sun will set and where the best light will be. We’ll also coordinate with your wedding planner, venue and all of your other vendors ahead of time to make sure your day goes smoothly.
EXCLUSIVITY
WE ONLY SHOOT 20 WEDDINGS PER YEAR.
We pour every ounce of ourselves into what we do. Limiting our schedule gives us the mental bandwidth and creative space to do each wedding justice and to cultivate a unique wedding photography experience for you.

Jesse’s background is in photojournalism and he worked as a newspaper photographer long before we started shooting weddings. While we work incredibly hard on our creative portraiture, more than 90% of the photos we shoot are authentic, unscripted moments. It’s when you’re lost in the moment and unaware of the camera that your true personality shines through.
Two Photographers
AND IT’S ALWAYS JESSE & MOIRA.
We’ve developed a chemistry over 14 years shooting together and our styles perfectly complement one another’s. Many wedding photography duos are comprised of a “primary” shooter and “second” shooter. We’re more of a 1A and 1B team.
Alt Sessions
THEY’RE UNBELIEVABLY FUN.
These aren’t your typical engagement sessions. Instead of standing in a field practicing awkward prom poses, we’ll hang out and do something fun. Like skiing. Or hiking with your dogs. Or grabbing a pint at your favorite brewery. We have a long list of cool ideas and we never do the same shoot twice, so your session will be unique to you.
Photo Album
WHERE THE STORY OF YOUR WEDDING DAY WILL BE RELIVED.
Your photos are going to be epic. Too epic to be contained by your computer screen. We want you to have finished artwork that you can touch and experience with all of your senses. Something you can pull out as evidence when you’re telling new friends about how Best Man Steve fell in the pool at your reception. And that’s why every one of our couples gets a 20-page, 8×8 photo album* as part of their package at no extra cost.
*Additional pages and size upgrades available during album consultation.
