This wedding season has been the year of white whales! First, we finally made it to the Stanley Hotel in May. Then we got to take a couple up Trail Ridge Road. And last weekend, we were fortunate to photograph Marissa and Abe’s Pine Creek Cookhouse wedding, just outside of Aspen.
How did the Ashcroft Valley come to be on our most-wanted venues list? Last summer, Jesse and I stumbled upon the Pine Creek Cookhouse while scouting for an Aspen wedding. We were blown away by the breathtaking views in all directions, and that’s saying something considering we live in a state where gorgeous mountain views are a dime a dozen. While we weren’t able to utilize the location for the original wedding, the spot has held our interest for over a year. So when Marissa told me where their wedding would take place, I made a small sacrifice to the photography gods that they would book us. (Spoiler alert, they did!) And as if the setting wasn’t stunning enough already, once we added Marissa and Abe and their two adorable children, the scene looked like it had been torn straight from a magazine.
Aside from the beautiful location, every detail of the wedding was meticulously selected. Marissa owns an event planning company focusing on non-profit events, which means that she’s got the hookup to the best vendors the Aspen area (and beyond) has to offer. Everything, from morning ’til midnight, was a feast for the senses.
On top of all of the eye candy, Marissa and Abe added a group of people who knew how to party! I can confidently say that last weekend, Jesse and I had the distinct privilege of attending and documenting the two best parties in Aspen. Sorry, to anyone who didn’t get an invitation; you’ll just have to live vicariously through the photos!
Marissa and Abe, thank you so much for including us in your vision for your wedding day. We hope that every day of living and playing in Aspen feels like a honeymoon!
