Planet Bluegrass Wedding

When we first met Jerrica and Jason, they brought along part of their wedding stationery set give us an idea of how awesome their Planet Bluegrass wedding was going to be. Now, we’ve seen some wedding stationery in our day and this piece had nothing in common with any of the watercolor, hand-calligraphed, blush champagne items you usually see. Instead, the couple had designed and created VIP-style concert badges for their festival themed wedding.

This attention to detail could be seen throughout their wedding, from the concert bus their guests arrived in to the wristbands they donned before the ceremony to the tambourines that Jerrica’s bridesmaids carried down the aisle in lieu of flowers. But more importantly than the details was the couple’s commitment to having a damned good time. Immediately following the first look, Jerrica kept offering to get into the water for the photos. She wasn’t concerned about her dress getting dirty and even walked down the aisle barefoot!

The good times continued after the ceremony, with hula hooping, yard games, and wood-fired pizza for dinner. After toasts and the first dance, the guests crowded the floor for the longest, most rowdy hora I’ve ever been a part of. As I stood in the crowd and tried to see over guests’ heads to figure out where to direct the light for Jesse, I heard one old man laughing and crying out, “They’re trying to kill them!” as the band began yet another refrain.

Jerrica and Jason, thank you two so much for being the amazing people you are. You threw one hell of a party and we were honored to be a part of your Planet Bluegrass wedding! If you ever decide to quit your day jobs and create your own music festival, you can be sure that Jesse and I will be the first in line for tickets!
