Canoeing Engagement

For never having been to Gross Reservoir before this year, Jesse and I sure ended up spending a lot of time there! In fact, after Amy and Ian’s canoeing engagement session, I’m pretty confident there isn’t a spot we haven’t seen. I’m also pretty confident that it’s one of the best hidden gems in Colorado.

The idea for Amy and Ian’s Alt Session came from an email they sent us saying, “We got a hunting-bred Golden retriever puppy, and then we got a canoe to match the dog, because we’re those people.” Our immediate reaction was, “We love those people!” So we made a plan to spend a September afternoon on the water.

When we met up at the boat launch, Jesse did the responsible thing (and what we were there for) and grabbed some documentary shots of Amy and Ian launching the canoes. Meanwhile, I set about the process of making best friends with their dogs, Steve and Turtle. (Side note: whenever I get a dog, I’m outsourcing the naming to Amy and Ian because how awesome are those names???) Then we all hopped into our canoes to explore Gross Reservoir on a picture-perfect, bluebird fall day. I could write more, but why bother when there are photos to look at?

Amy and Ian, if your February wedding is even half as fun as your engagement session was, you’ll be setting a high bar for our 2022 season. Thanks for the great experience and introducing us to what’s likely to be our next new pastime!
