Best of 2020
It’s that time of year again! Today, we’ll be looking back at our best wedding photos of 2020.
I probably don’t need to tell you how bizarre this past year has been. The pandemic has affected all of our lives in ways that would have been unimaginable just 12 short months ago. Needless to say, we didn’t photograph nearly as many weddings this year as we usually do. But we did have some incredibly fun and interesting sessions that we probably wouldn’t have had the opportunity shoot if 2020 had been a “normal” year.
For instance, we drove 2,000 miles (round trip) to Palms Springs, CA, for a retro airplane-themed engagement shoot at the Palm Springs Air Museum. We also had the pleasure of photographing that same couple’s elopement at one of our favorite places on the planet: Grand Tetons National Park.
Plus, we photographed our first clandestine proposal session, first senior session, first maternity session, and first anniversary session in years. We typically aren’t able to fit these types of shoots into our schedule because we’re so busy with weddings and engagements, but this year we had ample time to take on different types of projects. This all turned out to be a much-welcomed change of pace and allowed us to explore and flex our creative muscles outside of our usual wheelhouse.
Finally, we were fortunate enough to venture back down to our personal favorite national park, The Great Sand Dunes, for a third shoot with two of our favorite people in the world. The wind gusted up to 50 miles per hour and we were sandblasted as we hiked to the top of the 800’ dunes, but we made the best of the situation and came away with some pretty cool photos and one hell of a story, to boot.
Only time will tell what 2021 has in store for us, but in the words of ’90s rock band, Incubus, “we’ll be there with open arms and open eyes.”
Without further ado, here are our best wedding photos of 2020!
