Crested Butte Wedding
As anyone who lives in a travel destination knows, there’s the version of your town that the tourists see. And then there’s the real version that only the locals and a select few of their favorite people get to experience. Carrie and Conrad’s Crested Butte wedding weekend was the latter.
We started our local’s tour of Crested Butte with their welcome party at the Majestic Theatre, where Carrie and Conrad first met and later fell in love, while serving perfectly buttered popcorn and playing Yahtzee behind the concessions stand. These two took their love of movies and the theatre to another level when they founded a non-profit to save the Majestic from becoming another pandemic casualty. (Check out the sidebar to find out where you can donate to this great organization!)
The wedding day itself included the highlights of Crested Butte – both people and places. From Carrie’s hair and makeup artist (a good friend and recently voted Best in the Butte) to the infamous alien shack to Jeff, my bike chauffeur, we experienced all the best locations and characters CB has to offer. And along the way, Carrie and Conrad treated us to stories of debauchery, little-known town facts, and a long list of reasons they love the town.
But what was even better than the insider’s tour, was how every vendor I spoke with knew and loved Carrie and Conrad, having all previously worked together. Or partied together. Frequently both. Their theatre employees raved about what a great workplace they’ve created. And their guests echoed all the same love and admiration.
Carrie and Conrad, it’s glaringly obvious that you are two very special people who have built a community around you that’s as widespread as it is close knit. Crested Butte is lucky to have you, and vice versa! Thank you so much for inviting us in and giving us the best CB experience possible. PBRs are on us the next time we’re in your area!
And a huge thank you to Katie Yeaton: sister of the bride, photography matchmaker, and overall great human being!
