Texas Winery Wedding
If you read this blog regularly, you’re probably aware that we’re big advocates of doing what you want at your wedding. We see this play out in lots of ways – renting Big Buck Hunter or stage diving in your wedding dress, for example. For Aekta and John’s Texas winery wedding, it meant closing the night out with a water balloon fight!
Now, we didn’t head directly into a water balloon fight. There were some of the trappings of a “normal” wedding, but all had their own Aekta and John spin. Aekta got ready for the ceremony with her closest friend, Mishka the cat, while John hung out with the guests drinking and playing card games. As the blue hour approached, the guests (all thirteen of them) arranged themselves at the ceremony site to watch the bride walk down the aisle to whatever music was drifting across the courtyard from the winery’s kitchen.
Their ceremony – short, sweet, and sealed with a toast – was followed by a photo session around the winery with the most ethereal cape I’ve ever seen. Then there was food, more wine, and a couple of prematurely thrown water balloons.
After Jesse and I took a moment to waterproof our gear, the whole group walked out to an open field to drunkenly throw water balloons at the newlyweds. I’ll be completely honest….when we first suggested the water balloon fight, I may have left out that they would be the targets instead of the throwers. But once we got some epic and artistic photos, we gave them the chance to reciprocate!
Aekta and John, thank you so much for having us out for your kick-ass Texas winery wedding! We can’t wait until our paths cross again (we’re already coming up with more crazy photo ideas for when you come out to Colorado.)
