Bonneville Salt Flats Engagement

Where to begin? There’s so much I want to say about Frances and Bryce’s Bonneville Salt Flats engagement session that I’m paradoxically at a loss for words (much to Jesse’s disbelief). But if you take nothing else from this blog post, know that we had the best time at this Alt Session!

Serendipity brought these two awesome people into our lives. I met Frances in a spa waiting room at a wedding industry networking event – I know, I know, we lead rough lives. Frances is a well-known Colorado wedding photographer and our very first conversation was tantalizing enough to make me reach out and invite her to drink whiskey with us in Arvada. Which we did, sans Bryce, who was sick on the day we planned it. But whiskey dates wait for no man! The conversation (and whiskey) flowed smoothly, there was plenty of sarcasm and dry humor to go around, and we agreed to do it again, next time with Bryce. As the months passed and we got to know them more, it was clear that they are definitely our kind of people.

But the coolest part about hanging out with them has been seeing just how perfectly they balance each other. They are yin and yang. A perfect equilibrium of earnestness and irreverence, respect and defiance, tranquility and abandon. The one spot where they’re equally matched, however, is in their sense of adventure. I mean, they followed us 600 miles away from Denver to a location we hadn’t visited before and eagerly did everything we asked of them…including standing in cold water at 10:30 pm with a murder van lurking just a few yards away!

All in all, this Bonneville Salt Flats engagement was an experience we’ll never forget. I could seriously go on and on, but these photos speak for themselves.

Frances and Bryce, you already know how much we adore you two, so I’m just going to say that we cannot wait for your wedding this year, the Great Sand Dunes in 2020, more tacos, more whiskey, and all other future adventures!

While Jesse and I have our own photo “bucket list,” we always love when couples have a crazy idea of their own for an Alt Session. Heather and John not only had their own idea, they had already been in touch with the Palm Spring Air Museum about doing a potential airplane engagement session. Having…

Jesse and I have traveled extensively. One of the things that’s stuck with me throughout our wanderings is that every single state thinks that they have claims on the phrase, “Don’t like the weather? Wait five minutes.” I’m here to say that Colorado has officially cemented its rightful ownership. Just ask anyone who attended Kristin…

Even though I’m not from Colorado originally, I’ve embraced the dogs + microbrew lifestyle 100%. So when Kelly and Nick mentioned that they have three goofy dogs and like to visit breweries, it was a no-brainer to combine these activities for their Boulder brewery engagement session. With the most perfect fall weather, we started off with a…

Jesse and I sometimes put our couples through a lot of difficult tasks in pursuit of great photos. We’ve had couples do everything from hiking the sand dunes in formal attire to running out in the middle of traffic between green lights. It was no different at Jen and Whitney’s Steamboat Springs wedding. But not…
